We are Ready, Respectful,

and Responsible at MYES.

Mt. Yonah Community,

It is my privilege to serve in the role of Principal and parent at Mt. Yonah Elementary for the 2023-2024 school year.

I began my teaching career in 2006 in at Chicopee Woods Elementary School in Hall County.  I then transferred to Wauka Mountain Elementary School where I served for 9 years.  During my time at Wauka Mountain, I was a part of the leadership team envisioning the conversion of Wauka Mountain Elementary to Wauka Mountain Multiple Intelligences Academy.  In 2015 I transferred to Riverbend Elementary School where I had the pleasure of serving the school and community in the role of Assistant Principal.  I, then, was asked to return to Wauka Mountain Multiple Intelligences Academy in 2018 where I served as Assistant Principal from 2018-2023.

In 2023 I had the ultimate privilege of accepting the Principal position at Mt. Yonah Elementary School.  I am humbled and honored by the outpouring of support during my transition.

I received my Associate’s Degree from Gainesville College, Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Piedmont College, Specialist Degree from the University of Georgia with a Children’s Literature focus (GO DAWGS!), ESOL Endorsement, and Tier II Leadership Add-on from the University of North Georgia.  Fun fact - in 2005 I completed my Bachelor’s Degree which requires a student teaching placement - I was placed at Mt. Yonah Elementary School in 3rd Grade!  It feels good to be home!

Roger Dean and I have been married since 2005 and I am the proud boy mom of Nolan and Rhett.

Our school-wide focus this year will be SCALING NEW HEIGHTS.  Mt. Yonah is an amazing school, with extraordinary teachers and a close-knit community - As a staff member, student, family, or community member how can we ‘Scale New Heights’ to elevate Mt. Yonah to the next level?  We each have a responsibility and are in a position to help ‘Scale a New Height’ for the benefit of each student, each day.

We appreciate the continued support of our Board of Education, Superintendent, family, and community members.  I look forward to an amazing year, working alongside the best educators, learning the names and personalities of each of our students, and looking for opportunities to ‘Scale New Heights’ for Mt. Yonah Elementary School!

Humbly serving you,

Juliana Dean
